Kitchens in Newark homes

Much of Newark was built in the 1950s through the 1970s, after the city incorporated in 1955. Many of those homes still have their original closed or galley kitchens, 8-foot ceilings and a soffit above the wall cabinets. Common updates we design for:

• Opening a closed kitchen to the family room with a peninsula or island (layouts).
• Taking out the soffit and running taller wall cabinets toward the ceiling (cabinet sizes).
• Replacing worn vinyl or tile with waterproof SPC that runs through the kitchen and family room.
• Brightening a dark kitchen with white or light-wood cabinets and a light quartz.

Newer homes and townhomes often want a modern refresh: flat-panel or slim shaker doors, a two-tone island and a waterfall countertop.
